This checks the selected system for errors and bad sectors of that drive. It will then fix these problems, making the system faster and working in a good state.
This is often a good idea if certain programs or the whole computer suddenly starts performing at poor speeds. Also if a certain program stops working for no apparent reason, this could be a solution.
There are two ways of doing this...
Option 1:
>Turn on your computer.
>Press the start button.
>in the search area type 'chkdsk' and press enter.
>Finally tick as many out of the two boxes shown and press okay, An error window will come up saying the program can't run while the system is being used, simply click the button which tells you to schedule it for the next time the computer is turned on. (For the program to run press restart on your computer.
Option 2:
>Turn on the computer.
>Press the start button.
>Click on 'computer' (My Computer).
>Right-click on the drive you want to check.
>click on properties.
>Click on the 'Tools' tab at the top of the window.
>Finally tick as many out of the two boxes shown and press okay, An error window will come up saying the program can't run while the system is being used, simply click the button which tells you to schedule it for the next time the computer is turned on. (For the program to run press restart on your computer.
If any problems occur please comment and I will do my best to help. :)
